How it works

MYLO gives you the peace of mind you need when owning a private pool. It is constantly watching and analyzing your pool

HOW IS MYLO DIFFERENT?

Existing pool safety devices such as fences, pool covers, or mechanical alarms merely attempt to prevent unauthorized access to the pool. But they become useless when someone is already in the pool (whether authorized or not). In contrast, MYLO “watches” the pool 24/7 when there are people in the pool and when the pool is not in use. Moreover, while existing alarms require you to deactivate and reactivate when using or exiting the pool, with MYLO you do not need to worry about forgetting to activate or deactivate, covering or uncovering, locking, or unlocking anything. MYLO is on the lookout nonstop, day and night.

ONE SYSTEM, THREE LAYERS OF ADVANCED PROTECTION

Presence Alert – MYLO notifies you by a short alert when someone approaches the pool, and then when someone gets into the water (if the pool has not been used for more than several minutes). Pre drowning signs detection – As soon as MYLO detects distress signs it will start sounding a loud and escalating alarm.

Salient drowning detection – As soon as MYLO detects that a child / person are motionless, with the head under the surface of the water, it will start sounding a loud and escalating alarm.

All alarms are sound in the pool itself, in the plug-in home unit, and push notifications are sent to all the paired smartphones a long with the image of the event that triggered the alarm.

HOW DOES IT DO THAT?

MYLO (US patent guaranteed  #11216654B2) constantly monitors the pool with its built-in underwater and above water video cameras, using computer vision and artificial intelligence technology . MYLO is programmed to detect people in the pool as well as their position and motion. Using this technology, it constantly analyzes the real time video that it captures from its cameras and whenever it identifies a near drowning event it generates an alarm. Simultaneously and just in case you are not around, it is sending alerts to all household members via their smartphones/tablets.

A BIT ABOUT DROWNING

Imagine floating on the water and then breathing out all the air from your lungs. You probably know the feeling of sinking and the immediate urge to breathe in to keep afloat. Without air in your lungs, your body sinks. Accordingly in most cases, when a person drowns, he or she sinks to the bottom quickly.

Especially toddlers will show no struggling before sinking. MYLO identifies such a situation and sets off an alarm.

Nevertheless, when pre-drowning struggling signs do appear, MYLO can also detect them and set the alarm already at this stage.

BUT ISN’T IT TOO LATE?

For children, irreversible damage to the brain tissues typically starts to occur after about 4-5 minutes without oxygen, (for adults it is after about 3-4 minutes).

MYLO detects when a person sinks, meaning seconds after she or he stopped breathing, and it sets off a series of escalating alarms within seconds. This gives you ample time to get the person out of the water and start CPR or any other essential action.

People who drown and are removed from the water within such a time frame have very high chances of surviving without any damage.

HOW MYLO CHARGE/GET ELECTRICITY?

The system does not work without the power supply connected. Keep it plugged in at all times.

MYLO is safe for Pool usage as it uses a low voltage electricity power (24V).

NOT THE POOL ALARM YOU THOUGHT

Unlike the “standard” pool alarms, the MYLO is not based on a float mechanism but rather on cameras and AI software that “understands” what it sees, so:

  • MYLO “sees” people, Pool alarms “sense” water motion.
  • MYLO uses underwater and above-water cameras and AI/computer vision-based technology. Pool alarms use mechanical floats.
  • MYLO “watches” the pool 24/7. Pool alarms cannot be used when using the pool since people make waves that trigger the alarm.
  • MYLO alerts only upon detecting a person entering or at risk of drowning. Pool alarm alerts when sensing motion in the water that can be triggered also by wind, pool vacuum, etc. thus generating many false alarms
  • MYLO is always on. With Pool alarms, you need to remember to reactivate them once everyone is out of the pool.

HOW DOES IT DEAL WITH POOR VISIBILITY & OBSTRUCTIONS?

Using its AI capabilities, MYLO can tell how well it sees. The most common visibility issue is related to water cloudiness, especially at the beginning of the summer, after some dust and dirt accumulated at the bottom of the pool and when people get in, the dust starts rising and mixed in the water, which makes the pool a bit cloudy.

When MYLO cannot see well all the way to the far end, it will notify by indication in the home unit, and notification in your phone.

Another phenomenon happens at the beginning of the summer when the pool “emits” tiny air bubbles that can stick to the dome of the underwater camera. Using its AI capabilities MYLO ‘detects’ these bubbles and when they become too crowded the system wipes them off with its “eyelid”.

CAN I LEAVE MY POOL UNATTENDED?

MYLO is not a replacement for all the usual precautions you need to take in your pool, such as not leaving children unattended inside, or in the vicinity of the pool.

MYLO detects most of the drowning cases, but in the same way, you would not drive recklessly just because you have a safety belt and an airbag, you should not rely solely on any safety system when people’s life is at stake. Adult supervision is always required.

SO WHAT HAPPENS AT NIGHT?

At night, if inner-pool lights or outside lights are on, MYLO can still rely on its high-resolution cameras. We Recommend to keep a small light outside to make sure the Cameras continue to see at night.

HOW WAS IT TESTED?

During the development process, MYLO was tested in thousands of scenarios simulating drowning events, in a wide variety of swimming pools, with adults and children.

But there is more. MYLO is using Artificial Intelligence technology that constantly continues to “learn” and improve, and even to adjust to your own pool.

UNLIKE ANY OTHER SYSTEM

  • Unlike pool alarms, there is no need to turn them on or off when using or cleaning the pool. MYLO is not sensitive to motion but instead constantly analyzes video imaging of the people in the pool.
  • Unlike pool covers or fences, there is no worry about opening or closing them since MYLO is active 24/7, when the pool is in use, and when the pool is empty.
  • Unlike wristbands, you do not need to have one for each child or be concerned whether the child wears it all the time or took it off, simply because MYLO uses a camera to track the kids in the pool all the time.
  • Unlike systems that use only above-pool cameras that cannot track activity underwater, MYLO tracks the activity seen from above the pool and underwater and is therefore much more precise in detecting a drowning event.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

MYLO comes out of the box with a lot of “knowledge” that enables it to detect most drowning events while generating minimum false alarms.

But your pool may have different and unique features that MYLO never “saw” before.

Thus, in the first couple of weeks, it may generate more false alarms than usual.

When there is a false alarm, using your App, you can tell MYLO to ignore it, and this is how it learns, and the rate of false alarms will drop dramatically to close to zero.
